DIY Facial

Since we aren’t able to get a facial due to COVID, I figured we could bring the facial to us! I follow a bunch of makeup and skin care accounts on Instagram, so I fell down the rabbit hole of facial and makeup tutorials. That’s a typical night for me though, ever since this God awful quarantine/lock down. I am not sure what to even call it at this point. Anyways, it has affected my sleep cycle tremendously. I’m sure many of you can relate. I decided to do some research into the right products to purchase for an at home facial. The supplies are super easy to find and are relatively cheap. We all deserve to feel pretty and treat ourselves, even if it’s just at home! I’ve created my own “Self Care Sunday” routine which now includes an at home facial.

I wanted to share the items I found to begin my at home facials.

CLEANSE

Cleansing is the most important step when washing your face. Some people prefer to do a double cleanse by using an oil based product first to remove dirt and oils. I personally have oily skin so I tend to stay away from oil based products. I prefer a one time cleanse of the face.

STEAM

If you don’t want to purchase a face streamer, you can boil water in a pot and place your face over the pot. If you use this method, be sure you are careful since you can burn yourself. I decided to purchase a facial steamer since I wanted the full on spa experience. I was actually really surprised at how affordable it was. Amazon is a great resource for affordable products. You can purchase my facial steamer here.

Now, you might be tempted to perform your own extractions, but please refrain!! Leave this step to the professionals. You may end up making your blemishes worse.

EXFOLIATE

I find exfoliating my skin so satisfying LOL. This step is essential in order to remove dead skin. Exfoliating leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth.

MASK

Face masks are absolutely amazing and an absolute must!! There are so many types of different facemasks suited to your skin type. Sheet masks are extremely popular right now, as well as hydrating masks. When I wear a sheet mask, I use my face roller well I have the mask on. Face rollers are amazing and they have so many benefits. I like to use it when I wear a mask because it helps my skin absorb the hydration and benefits of the mask.

SERUM

You can use any type of serum for this step. I prefer to use Neutrogena’s Hyaluronic Acid serum. I’ve tried many serum ‘s, but I found the serum does not make me break out. Face serums can help with skin dullness, fine lines, oiliness, and acne. I also prefer to use a face roller during this stuff as well. Face rollers help your skin absorb the serum.

You can read more of my review on Hyaluronic Acid Serum here.

MOISTURIZE

Like I’ve said in the past, moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!! This is my favorite step of any facial. In my opinion this is one of the most important steps of your facial. It helps lock in the hydration and other essential benefits. Read more about the benefits of moisturizer here.

Make sure you take some time for yourself during these crazy times ❤️
